A Week of Experiential Huna in Hawai‘i

This course takes place at Mala O Kilauea , a five-acre estate on the slopes of Kilauea, a short drive from Pahoa. Its peaceful tropical setting provides a natural environment for strengthening shamanic skills and exploring new ways of communicating and working with nature.

In the Kahili Huna tradition, the Adventurer shaman works with the forces of nature and the powers of the mind to support healing and constructive change in personal, social and environmental conditions. The emphasis of this training is practical and experiential: learning ideas, practising skills, and discovering how they can be applied in everyday life.

The course reviews the esoteric system of Huna, develops shamanic healing skills, and explores ways of applying those skills to areas of tension and change in our own lives, in the lives of people close to us, and in the wider world.

What You Will Learn and Practise

Across five days of teaching and practical sessions, participants will work with:

  • The foundations of Adventure Shamanism — concepts and principles fundamental to the practice of the Kahili Huna tradition.
  • Shifting world views — learning to change perspective in order to understand situations differently and help others more effectively.
  • Shamanic healing and connection — connecting with people and the environment to send and receive healing.
  • Dreaming for insight — using dreams and focused inner experience to explore causes, possibilities and solutions to a range of life situations.
  • Merging with nature — developing ways of learning directly from nature and influencing beneficial change through deeper connection.
  • Creating effective ritual — designing rituals that communicate strongly with the subconscious mind and can inspire positive change in ourselves and others.

Learning in Hawaii

Huna is intended to be experienced, not only discussed. Holding this training on Hawaii Island gives participants the opportunity to practise awareness, healing and communication with nature in the Hawaiian environment that is integral to the tradition. The week combines structured teaching with direct experience, personal exploration and shared practice.

Mala O Kilauea offers space to step away from ordinary routines, focus on the training, and live and practise together as a small group. Participation is limited to 12 people.
